"...once the music kicks off, I'm engulfed in the old school of the genre. This act from Michigan, US, comes up with a sound that is quite similar to the glorious acts from back in the days. Inspired by the likes of Immortal, Lord Belial, 1349, Dimmu Borgir and Mayhem, this one-man act certainly impressed me. Although bleak, eerie and at times quite brutal, this album is well-varied (even in the vocals) and definitely worth banging your head to. My favorite track here is 'The Necromancer' but all tracks are well-written and highly varied. Certainly recommended stuff..."

Malphas is a black metal project hailing from Canton, MI. It was started in February 2014 by Lord Moloch. He recorded three low quality demo tracks just for fun and then put the project to the side for a while to focus on the bands he was in. He started back up again in mid 2015 working on a new five song demo that was released in the spring of 2016. At this point he was only in one other band, which was stagnating for a long time, which gave him plenty of time to work on Malphas material. After the release of the demo, Lord Moloch started work on the debut EP. He added a two guitar sound and tried a new recording technique that provided a more professional sound. The EP was released on July 8th, 2016. On June 30th 2017 He released his first full length, Morning Star Resplendent, which features a more melodic sound including many harmonies and a song with clean vocals. On November 12th 2017 the second full length, The Jaws of Fenrir, was released. This album continued the melodic sound of the previous release, but had several songs with Norse mythology lyrics. On April 13, 2018 Siege the Citadel was released. This album featured longer song lengths and a continued focus on a more melodic and epic sound. The album has fantasy themed lyrics that are set in Lord Moloch's fantasy world. Lord Moloch has several split releases planned for the future and will continue to write new material.
